Service Description

This 4 week Learn to SUP course is ideal for beginners looking for a solid start to their Paddling journey. Suitable for those over the age of 18 who wish to increase their confidence and independence on the water. Dates: 4 week course running on Wednesdays Time: Sessions 1, 2 & 4 ~1 hour 30 (17:00-18:30) Session 3 ~ 2 hours (17:00-19:00) Age: 18+ Location: Varied - Tamworth, Staffordshire What's included: -Paddleboard -Paddle -BA & Helmet -Safety equipment eg towlines -Dry bags -Waterways license -Experienced, qualified and DBS checked instructor -Certificate cost (British Canoeing Discover award & PaddleSafer award) Please note that we don't provide personal clothing such as wet suits, wet boots and/or dry suits. Session 1 - Buzzard Valley - On the lake Equipment and PPE Entering and exiting the water Foundation Paddling; Forward, backwards and sideways strokes Session 2 - Fazeley Canal - On the Canal Etiquette and other users Efficient paddling Obstacles Environment Session 3 - Buzzards Valley - Theory and lake On land theory lesson - Trip planning and safety equipment On the lake safety session - Self rescues and foundation peer rescues Session 4 - River Tame, Tamworth Castle - On the River Skills into practise Water flow Safety considerations Weekly course details: Sent by email after booking; meet points, session aims & kit list. About the venue: The toilet block is situated at the main entrance, approximately 5 minutes walk from the lake. Changing is available in the separate Male and Female changing tents at Base Camp, or if you prefer at your car. (If you require a separate changing tent, please let us know in advance). Base Camp is a completely outdoor venue with a big bush craft vibe. Cancellation Policy

Bookings are non-refundable. In the case of extreme poor weather we will reschedule the session.
