Service Description

The Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Course aims to provide paddlers with the key safety and rescue skills required to operate safely and to be able to deal with common problems in a sheltered water environment. The course is designed for all paddlers irrespective of their chosen craft. The objective is to introduce, explore and practice simple strategies and safe skills that can provide the paddlers with the tools to solve common paddling issues. What to expect: Times - 9:30-17:00 Location - Buzzards Valley, Tamworth Age - Candidates must be 14yrs+ Ratio - 1:8 Craft - Canoe, Kayak, Paddleboard or Sit on top Course provider - Judith Pre-requisites - Explore award or equivalent paddling ability in your chosen craft Course content: -Clothing and Equipment -Safety frameworks -Contact and Towing rescues -Self-rescues -Deep water rescues -Reflection and development What's included: -Certificate cost -Private lake -Access to a range of craft -Qualified, experienced & DBS checked Coach -Hot drinks -Free parking What's not included: -British canoeing membership -Lunch -Personal clothing such as wetsuits, wet boots or dry suits About the venue: The toilet block is situated at the main entrance, approximately 5-10 minutes walk from where the course will take place. Changing is available in the separate Male and Female changing tents at Base Camp, or if you prefer at your car. (If you require a separate changing tent, please let us know in advance). There is no fridge or microwave, Base Camp is a completely outdoor venue with a big bush craft vibe. Camping is available onsite, if this is something you require please drop us an email. Important info: The PSRC is an active, on the water course, you can find further information here: https://paddlesuptraining.com/courses/paddlesport-safety-and-rescue/#page-content Attendance certificates are issued to candidates by their Delivery Centre, following a recommendation from the course provider. This course requires a minimum of 4 candidates to go ahead, in the case of low numbers the course date will be rearranged. We advise not making travel and accommodation plans until the course has reached it's minimum numbers.
